Why so plain
The web was built to move information from one person to another. So this page does exactly that and nothing else: no scripts, no trackers, no cookies, no web fonts, no frameworks — just a few kilobytes of hand-written HTML that arrive before you've finished clicking. Anything that stands between you and the information has been left out on purpose. That instant, get-out-of-the-way feeling was the whole point of the internet in the first place, and it still costs almost nothing to keep.
